This is the first part of the very detailed programming outline that will be added to the website. Nothing here or in the soon to follow parts is new, but it's obvious from the non panels showing up in the database still and confusion over simple procedures in the question threads that it just hasn't been well communicated and we need to fix that.

Part One - Definitions
Discussion Panels – One to four people usually seated at a head table facing the audience, discussing a predetermined topic. Does not usually involve A/V, panelists take questions and comments from the audience.
Presentations – One to three people, relies more heavily on A/V. The chosen topic is presented to the audience in more depth and detail than at a panel. The presenters do most of the talking with less participation from the audience, may take questions at the end.
PANELS AND PRESENTATIONS ARE THE ONLY CATEGORIES OF EVENTS THAT ACCEPT PARTICIPANTS THROUGH THE ANPANELS SIGNUP AND DATABASE.
All of the following categories are Invitation Only.
Workshops – One to two people demonstrating and teaching skills. Audience is seated at tables so they can take notes or work with materials. May require a materials fee.
Gym Classes – Workshops or demonstrations that emphasize physical skills. May use music or minimal A/V. Participants may be required to register ahead of time.
Contests – Audience participates by answering questions or winning challenges. Prizes may be awarded.
Game Shows – Contests with a structured format, usually rely heavily on A/V and distinctive graphics. Prizes usually awarded.
Performance - Involves several people who organize themselves outside of the convention to prepare and rehearse their material. May involve singing, dancing, acting, martial arts or similar creative activities. Takes place on stage or in special events tracks.
Other Events – Activities that don't fit neatly into one of the other categories.
ANYONE WHO WISHES TO RUN A WORKSHOP, GYM CLASS, CONTEST, GAME SHOW OR OTHER EVENT MUST SUBMIT A DETAILED PROPOSAL BY EMAIL TO THE CORRECT DEPARTMENT.
There are very few openings for new events each year; most specialized events are run by staff and returning events have priority when timeslots are assigned.
THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES ARE ONLY OPEN TO GUESTS OR VIPS.
Q&A – Question and answer session. These are reserved for guests, industry reps and creators who are invited to showcase their indie or fan made works.
Video Presentations – Take place in the video rooms. One to two people show videos while providing commentary. Only open to guests, authors and invited experts.
