Lord help me I'm back on my bullshit again (AKA my suggestions/plan-to-orchestrate panels for AN 2018) 1. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: A classic. I am not the first to organize it nor will I be the last. I had a blast last year and everyone the years pirior loved it to. However, I would like to request an extended period of time for this panel due to the sheer mass of this series. We could not even spend 10 minutes on each individual arc, and some arcs are more fan-Favorited than others. Thus, we were really rushed. I think an extra 30 minutes would really open up more audience interaction and discussion. 7. Toxicity in Fandom and How We Can Make Things Better: This one is iffy. I attempted something in the past called Fandom Etiquette that did not have much of a turn out. However, it is evident that fandom is getting more aggressive. This panel will NOT be about bashing or hating a fandom or individual people. I will conduct a sociological explanation of toxic behaviour and open discussion regarding how we can correct those behaviours. I would like to have a professional moderator on the panel with me in order to keep things orderly and to help me map out the conversation. I really think we can benefit from this. I just ask that this panel not be put in a large room like the first attempt. Panels are one hour only. There may be leeway for panels with special guests, but this does not happen often. You will be able to have two panels about the same universe if a new anime season came out between last AN and this AN, but one panel would be on the new season only. I used to run the Fandom Etiquette panel, but it was more about explaining social rules to fans who haven't been to conventions before. It would be great if you could shift the focus to Toxicity in Fandom. Would you bd bringing in any experts to be panelists, or are you an expert in the related fields? Would you consider conducting a presentation instead, if you're worried about conversion getting derailed or taking up too much time? If you've been having difficulty moderating, please let me know, and I'll look for some materials to post in the forum. Moderators need to practice somehow.

I'm very glad to see your interest in the idea of the Toxicity in Fandom. I'm not an expert in sociology by any means, but my sister is a licensed behavioral therapist with a minor in sociology whom would help me with my research. I have a good idea of how I want to organize this and present itself. I'm not really one for power-point presentations, but if you think a visual representation of what I am explaining would help, than I would be glad to give it a college try.
The main focus is to encourage positive behaviors online. My main fear is people twisting the ideas to a different form of toxicity. Or worse, hate on certain fandoms due to their high toxicity as if every fandom did not have some level of toxicity inherent in themselves.
This panel is not meant to be shutting down people's ideas, but focus on one's individual contribution to a fandom as to not stir the pot any further. This won't be a cure to the toxic nature of fandom, but it will help stall its growth.

Hey! Michelle Flannigan here
I was thinking of running a few panels this year and wanted to recruit others who share interests!
Critical Role - how fans have been blown down by the voice actors of our favourite animes are now taking on roles of their own in their live dungeons and dragons twitch stream. We can talk about the actors, their characters, the story of the show and the fandom.
Mass Effect Andromeda - The possibly last Mass Effect game from bioware? What went wrong on release, playing the updated version and how awesome the story is. favourite characters and the Lore.
Cosplay Make Up Tips - My self and other cosplayers giving tips and answering questions on simple to difficult cosplay looks for conventions. Photo presentation and discussion.
RPG - Tips to text-base roleplay online - Roleplay experts talk about How the build your original characters for your stories, how to be a good roleplay partner, how to find the partner that works well with you, getting inspired, grammar and how important it is, Mature vs PG13 writing what suits you, and sharing stories and authors we love.
Cosplay Planning - Cosplayers come together to discuss the start to finish process to build an affordable yet awesome cosplay. Where to find materials, fabric and wigs and save money, Getting creative with supplies. What do you need to know to get started?
Dungeons and Dragons - DM's discuss their stories - From veteran writers to first time DM's share their inspirations, how they prepare a game, what's behind the screen a, how they build their mini maps and how they keep their players engaged in the stories they spin.
Final Fantasy Abridged Season 2 - How great is this? A good panel to invite Antfish too. Talking about the story and discussing with him the process of creating the show.
Legend of Zelda - Hyrule Historia - discussing Breath of the Wild and how it fits into the Lore so Far.
Overwatch - A discussion into the updated short animated features and how they fit into the story, new characters, the NERFS and the competitive league. Cosplayers and skins.

I have a honors bachelor of sociology and have been doing research into this subject for years, so i have a lot to say. You point that this panel can function as a way to encourage positive behavior is I think right on point, so I really hope this happens.

I'm actually considering a PINGU IN THE CITY panel where all we do is NOOT NOOT for 50 minutes. Is it bad that I would legit go to this panel?

I thought I'd throw out a few ideas I got for panels that I don't think I'm really qualified to host, but may be interested in seeing: 1 a) Webtoons/Manhua/Manhwa panel - I've noticed in the past few years that comics from China, S.Korea, and other anime styled comics are making it into the mainstream. Artists from LineWebtoon, Lezhin, Foxtoon, Weibo, Naver, etc. It would be cool to just have a panel discussing some webtoons. I'm not sure if any series would be popular enough to have their own panel, so maybe just jam em all into one? Eg: Lookism, Like a Butterfly, unOrdinary, Doridosim, King's Avatar, ReLIFE, Siren's Lament, etc. I particularly think Siren's Lament would be interesting cuz it incorporates music into the experience.THERE'S SO MANY GOOD ONES I want panels for them all, but idk if there's demand... 1 b) 18+ Manhwa/Manhua - Same as above but with 18+ series' 1 c) GL/BL Manhwa/Manhua - Same as above (posted in the YN thread) 2) GANGSTA. and GANGSTA. Cursed - it has a small fandom, but I keep seeing artists in the artist alley selling fanart every year sooooo ? I would like to see if there's any demand cuz I'd freaking love to host this (my fav babe <3) I'll maybe make a thread about this later ... 3) Black Clover - MAH BOY, I was reading the Manga and it got an anime! 4) Devilman Crybaby - on netflix, seems popular. I'm watching it rn so idk if it's a banger yet 5) Violet Evergarden - ^^^^ 6) The Ancient Magus' Bride 7) Welcome to the Ballroom - let's talk about Shizuku's woman hips this really cool sports anime. I just adored the style when I saw the trailer last year and was HOOKED! 8) KPOP panel - Someone last year mentioned a kpop dance game and I was sad that was never realized... but a panel is cool too 9) Game themed Anime - was mentioned last year (introduced as 'let's bash SAO') where we'd just chat about different animes with video game tropes. 10) Doreiku (23 Slaves and Me) - 18+ probs, Psychological manga, but upcoming anime!! Think it'd be interesting to discuss if the anime comes out before AN The ideas just kept coming after I started haha I'll probably add/remove more later cuz I'm a greedy child and want everything...

What about a panel on running an anime club? For those who participate in clubs at their school/university, or want to start one. There is a big difference between simply watching something on a screen together and running a successful club.
Qualities and behaviour of a leader. Routes to take and format/style, considerations required for how to handle the inevitable problems that can arise when putting (potentially socially awkward) anime nerds in the same room. Events and extra activities. Things like that.
Ideally, such a panel would run 50/50 between panelists and open questions from the audience.

This is a reminder anyone serous about proposing a topic should create a new thread per topic. The forum admin meant well creating this thread, but it it too cluttered for recruitment and discussion of multiple panel ideas, and Fingers is the department head for panels.

Some ideas for panels that I have are:
Danganronpa Pokemon biology Black Butler Yuri on Ice Mystic Messenger
I’ll definitely add more later but these are the ones I can think of at the top of my head.

Hello~ I would like to propose an Attack on Titan panel for this years Anime North! I know there were some other people interested/involved in last years, but I wanted to also throw my hat into the ring as a host for this panel as I believe I could make it a really good experience. I am the owner of the largest Attack on Titan encyclopedia/community website in North America, the Attack on Titan wiki (alongside two others who live outside of Canada). We had over 1 000 000 in traffic when season two came out! What a day. I am also the owner of the largest Attack on Titan community server on Discord, the AoT Wiki server (we are currently approaching 3000 members). I think it would be so fun to host an event with the Attack on Titan community at Anime North where we could reflect on the series and discuss knowledge, theories, or just geek out! Thank you for taking the time to listen to me! - Rebecca (JinxTheFunhouse) AoT Wiki: attackontitan.wikia.com/wiki/Attack_on_Titan_WikiAoT Wiki Profile: attackontitan.wikia.com/wiki/User:JinxTheFunhouse?useskin=oasisAoT Wiki Discord Server: discord.gg/S9geUeyP.S. Sorry if this seems like promotion, I swear I'm just trying to show that I'm not making all of this up. Just want to quote this on my actual account Lol My resume is hardly as extensive what with just being a fan and a Titan researcher myself. But I would love to be on this panel if there was still space. It could also cover the games - which I am a big fan of even with their drawbacks.

Hi, I'll write first in French since I was asked by Fingers Delaurus to do in French, and then I'll write an overview in English.
So short overview, after hosting my panel in French about subtitling movies and series, I was encouraged to submit it to you too. I'm a professional audiovisual translator who works full time on subtitles for bigs company like Disney, Universal Studio and Warner bro for two years now. My panel talks about the studies to become an audiovisual translator, what are the working conditions and stuff like that, and also about the rules of subtitling, the different type of subtitles, the difference between working on a movie and working on a series, etc. I've hosted it two time already and people seems to like it a lot and find it interesting.

Would Miraculous Ladybug have enough potential - or interest - to be considered a panel. I think it would be a great example of a female protagonist for young fans of animation.
