Dungeons and Dragons - DM's discuss their stories - From veteran writers to first time DM's share their inspirations, how they prepare a game, what's behind the screen a, how they build their mini maps and how they keep their players engaged in the stories they spin.

Does this mean that you or someone you know is a D&D Veteran ? I've always wanted to play.

Does this mean that you or someone you know is a D&D Veteran ? I've always wanted to play. I would be a sophomore DM as I have successfully run a 1-year campaign. I know there are a lot of them out there. Cosplay Medic is a DM as well and he is interested in joining the panel

This would be a very interesting panel. I'd also like to discuss the recent popularization of Dungeons and Dragons in pop culture. Dungeons and Dragons has been around for decades, yes, but it has definately moved from being a niche, shamefully nerdy thing to a cool-nerdy, hip popular game. I mean, in the past few years, there are quite a few notable DnD internet shows/podcasts like The Adventure Zone, Critical Role, Friend at the Table, and Harmon Quest.
But I believe the main focus should be almost a round-table of veteran DMs/Players discussing how the games develop, how to get started, and a brief outline of the things one needs to start up a game.

Would this panel be more for veterans helping other with their campaigns and how to help others start the game? I'm assuming that the majority of the audience isn't just waiting to get started, but you could ask for a show of hands at the beginning of the panel. I'm personally on the "how to create a character" stage because I've never played at all.

I was thinking of getting the audience involved with requests. Like a DM's Q and A

Panels at AN are discussions/debates between panelists. Some questions are taken, but no general Q&A.
Anime North does have Q&A’s also, but not hosted by fans.

I'd be totes down for this panel. I just started DMing about a month ago, but otherwise I've been playing for a little over a year now

I've been playing off-and-on for a long time, and have DM'ed for many bits of that (though never any longer than a year for a campaign). If you need another panelist, I'd be game!
Some interesting things that could be talked about:
- Verisimilitude (how real the simulation is) vs fun - Improvisation - Speeding up play - Encouraging positive player behaviour - Making the game an unforgettable experience (creating ambiance, world building)

I am known to Ed Greenwood. The “Why should I be on this” will be important. F
