We have been thinking about eliminating the half table this year. Not to remove the option permanently, but as a temporary measure for 2022.
Examining the data for 2017-2019 we've had an average of %16.3 of the total, that about 10 or 11 tables, allocated for 1/2 table sellers. And that was in line with the more detailed analysis of the 2019 data that had about %16 of the total requests for 1/2 tables. Therefore about %16 of the total requests, and allocations, have been for 1/2 tables.
Personally, I do not wish to force %16 of the sellers to choose to either go full table or to quit. However, we are aware that it could be an unnecessarily risky option in randomly assigning 2 strangers to share the same table for the duration of the Nominoichi. There's also the possibility that potential sellers are also aware of this and even were we to offer a 1/2 table, far fewer people would select it this year anyway.
At this point no final decision has been made, but considering the options available, it seems likely that there will not be a 1/2 table option this year. OF course we are always interested in hearing any feedback about this.
Should anyone have a compelling argument in favor of, or in opposition to, the 1/2 table option please speak up!

I feel with restriction being lifted around the province, it should be left with the individual to decide if they wish to share a table. By applying for a half table, you know you will be sharing with somebody else. If that is the case, you clearly are okay with it, just like the other person. As long as no laws are being broken, why should anybody be concerned if two people choose to share a table? I'll still wear a mask for the event even if its a choice and am going for a full table. But for those who choose not too go for a full table, should be allowed the choice. Also, more people getting a half table will allow for more people to participate in the Nominoichi. I'll be disappointed if I am not fortunate enough to get a spot so I want the best chance I can get

I don't see the value in only offering full tables.
People are saying 'having strangers buying tables and being so close together seems like a bad idea'
But then that argument just says the whole event should be called off.
A full table isn't going to cause less crowding than a half table.

Yes, sharing a table is likely the only way I'll be able to return as a seller this year.

I have no skin in the game as I am not a seller but I support 1/2 tables being offered. As a buyer, I like as wide a seller net being cast as possible. Hmmm, I guess I do have skin in the game, after all.

This will be my first year trying to be a seller here, but from what I've heard, in the past it's been pretty difficult to get a table (the reservations fill up so quickly). If that's the case, not offering half tables seems like it would make that problem worse.
I'd expect that forcing people who only need half tables to use a full table would end up in less stuff for sale overall, and also could push out potential sellers who can't get a full tables worth of stuff to the event (don't have a ride with space for a full table worth of stuff)

We no longer use a "first come-first served" type system. Table applications are now run via a lottery system.
People who want a table are given a period of several days to complete a table application. Then tables are randomly selected from the total number of applications until all tables have been assigned. There is no part of this process, no option to select anything, that will affect the outcome of this random selection.
The last time we used this system over 2/3 of those who applied received a table.

Based on the comments so far, it seems like most would prefer not to remove the 1/2 tables this year. Myself included, would like a better chance at getting a table. The option should be up to the seller to choose 1/2 or full. Just my opinion.
