At this time we are not accepting any tables requests for 2023.
We are still working on improving the event. Should you have any ideas on how we can meet that goal please send me a PM, or post them here. Although we can't implement on every idea we do read all of them.
Hopefully, sometime in early March we will have the new rules and information available on the Anime North website. That information will have all the details about when and how to reserve a table.
We are not going to start accepting table requests in March, that is just when the information will be posted.
Thank you for your patience, and your continuing interest in the Nominoichi!

Based on last year's experience, there needs to be a more pronounced separation between Nominoichi and the rest of the event space around the Artist's Alley, as there seemed to be free movement in and out through the exits last year, while people were lined up, still awaiting entry from waiting hours outside in an orderly lineup. I even recall people just slipping around the low barriers.
It seems like the event has enough momentum unto itself that it warrants a second event timeslot as well.

There was free movement in and out, but only after the line outside was brought in.
We made sure the people waiting in line were allowed to enter first. Once that was completed then we opened the 'exits' to two way traffic. This is the way the Nominoichi has always been run, and we'll likely have a similar situation this year.
However, the people who were hopping over the low barriers were a problem, and that's an issue that we are intent on fixing this year.
As for a second time slot, I don't think we are there yet. There is a huge cost in both time and money in running the Nominoichi and the demand for tables is not great enough to run a second time slot.
Last year we eventually allocated %100 of the tables with zero people in the stand-by list. Everyone who requested a table got one! We even had to re-offer a few empty tables a second time to people who wanted them. Once the demand for tables is at least 2:1 over the number of tables we have, then it will be time to look at opening a second time slot.
We're are not there yet, but we can always reassess the situation after this years event.

I doubt I'll be attending the event as a whole this year, but I really want to stress once again something that I've seen be an issue year after year: the hall closing announcements.
The Nominoichi runs longer than the main hall events. But as I've seen repeatedly, and noticed to my own personal detriment last year, the hall closing announcements are always made without this fact - when the main halls close at 10 PM, that's all they say, and anyone who doesn't already know that the Nominoichi runs past that time thinks the event has ended and leaves.
This was compounded last year by guide book not having a clear indication of the event's run time: anyone looking at it would have no way of knowing either.
It really needs to be made clear in all public announcements the day of, both for the 30 minute warning and the closing time, that the Nominoichi is still open. And on top of that, since the Nominoichi is such a big event, it needs to be prominently featured in the guide book (both the physical book and the companion app).

I'd just like to add, the location of last year's Nomi was perfect. Previous Nomis had always been a very hot, sweaty and kinda uncomfortable experience, but last year's location changed that. It was warm in there, yes, but nothing my table partners and I couldn't manage! In short, I hope it's in the same place this year!

We are not staying where we were last year. We are returning to Hall C this year.
Hall C is a bit larger, it's also easier to manage, crowd control and entry can be controlled better, and we have direct access to toilets and a water station all night.
Additionally, as part of planning the layout of the whole building all weekend, it's also works out better for other events for us to be there in Friday night.

This is my personal view.
I skipped Nomi last year because of Covid. I didn’t know Nomi was been held at the main hall next to artists alley. Hall C has a lack of air circulation. At times it can be considered a health and safety nightmare. Airflow and heat has always been an issue at Hall C for Nomi. Imagine the exhausting heat stacked with the lack of airflow and people wearing masks. I can only imagine all the medical emergencies you might encounter.
While I understand that crowd control & entry is easier to manage in Hall C. Last year when Nomi was held in the main hall. I heard people bypassing the line up. People would sneak in from the dealers room or artist alley using the gaps in the curtains and barriers. Last year we had a lot of volunteers call in sick during AN. Short staff in such an open area must have caused you a lot of issues. If I may make a suggestion, if you place a roll of artist alley tables in front of the barrier and the same for the dealers room. It might decrease the amount of people sneaking in. That way you wouldn’t need staff members patrolling all the barriers.
What I posted here is only my opinion Chris. I understand that there’s a lot issues that is going on that we are not aware of. Factors that need to be considered and such. As always thank you for all your hard work.

But it's also notorious for getting terrible in there really fast. It was such a relief to not have to be in there and actually come out of Nomi not drenched in sweat and feeling exhausted. :c Also it was nice having the area left over as a place to just sit and relax for the rest of the weekend last year.

Seconding that I think last year's location was much better - even with where it was, it was still very close to a washroom and a water station and I stepped out a couple times and was back within minutes.
Hall C is good for space, but it gets HOT in there. I know uncontrolled entry was an issue, but would creating a line of tables around the perimeter of the event help with that? I know it's not possible this year, but maybe something to consider in the future as I think a lot of people preferred the space in the main hall with better airflow.
My only other suggestion - signs that are high up that designate which numbers are in any group of tables. It's easy to get confused in there with the crowds and the guidebook doesn't always help. And while I know sellers are free to make their table numbers visible, a lot of the time they are hanging off the table and aren't visible once the crowds hit.
Otherwise, super excited for another year of Nomi and cannot wait to scoop some deals (and maybe sell some stuff!)

To clarify, does the application period open at midnight EDT on April 1st and close on April 7th at 11:59 PM EDT? The website only mentions dates but not specific times.
edit: Okay, I see that March 31st at 11 PM EDT seems to be the designated time applications will open.
And when will people find out whether they’ll be accepted as sellers?

Correct, April 7th at 23:59 is the end of the deadline. This gives seven full days to apply.
By completing the application process you will receive an application ID number. After the application period we will post a list of all these numbers that were selected right here, on the forums.
We will also post detailed instructions, including individual table numbers and layout diagrams here.

Hello, I recently applied for the lottery and at the bottom of the e-mail the blurb needs to be adjusted I believe.
"This mail does not mean you have booked a table, just that you have been entered into the lottery. The results of the lottey (successful application ID numbers) will be posted on the Nominoichi forums by >> early June <<."

There appears to be a snag in the Nominoichi Rules page. In the section titled "How do I get this discount?", it says "When you apply for a table you will need to include your 2022 table number, that's it." However, the preceding section, titled "Is there a discount?", it says that you only get the $5 discount if you get selected by the lottery process and you reserved a table for Nominoichi 2022.
These two sections of the rules appear to be contradictory, and the application website has nothing that requires applicants to input their Nominoichi 2022 table number if they had one. This leads me to believe that the process outlined in the "Is there a discount?" section of the Nominoichi rules is the one that takes precedence, but I would like a definitive answer on this.

I submitted my Nominoichi table application on March 31st 11:59 PM EDT, one minute before the application period was scheduled to open. But that was because the site said to come back on March 31st at 11 PM… and I did not get a confirmation email after applying. Took me two attempts to create an account because the email was never sent to my inbox the first time (checked the spam folder as well).
In the past, back when the application process was first-come-first-serve, any email requests sent before that designated time would be ignored. Will applying a minute early affect my chances of being selected as a seller even under the current lottery system?

The "early June" really gave me a heart attack because AN is in May (lol). But, real talk, will winners of the lottery be notified before the badge mailout request cut off date of Apr 21, 2023? Would prefer to have the option to have our badges mailed out to us vs having to line up to pick it up. I know it was an option during the pre-covid days of AN.
