Otaku Help Wanted!
Once again, we're looking for a few good Otaku to help spread the word about their favourite anime, artists and other hot topics. All it takes is an hour of your time, sitting in a room sharing your ideas with others. It can't get any easier than that.(1)
Words from the Wise:
You should expect to debate and to have to defend your point of view in more detail than "Pokemon R00ls D00ds".
If you are unsure if you have enough material, see if you can talk 15 minutes on the subject of the panel without repeating yourself. There's usually going to be 4 of you there, so that fills the hour. (You’re expected to be ready to do more and prep a bit, but it’s a good benchmark.)
Bringing notes, props, and prepared speeches are all the marks of experienced panelists. Practice is also a good idea.
What's the Reward?
Completing for 1 or 2 gets you swag as a token of our appreciation and good karma with us.
Complete 3-4 panels and get an Anime North Panels Exclusive (We have some exclusive designs that go from Wow! to WOW!!!)
Sit on 5 panels, and we REFUND YOUR MEMBERSHIP or give you a pre-reg for next year, your choice. We also try to swing some goodies for our most hardworking contributors.
Ready to Sign Up?
Check out the threads, LAQ and suggestions on this very forum.
Remember: The email you give us will be made available to your co-panelists and be used as needed for scheduling. Please make sure it's an email that you're okay with being shared in this manner.
The Bongooonnnggg mailing list is now managed separately at eepurl.com/diRAm5
Get registered using our database! If you don't have an account already, sign up fresh!
Panelist signup will close when all available slots have been filled.
When you check in at the Panels Office you will be given a special panelist ribbon and a personal schedule (known as the Purple Paper).
For every panel you sit on, the Purple Paper must signed by either your fellow panelists or by a Panels Staff member. Turn the completed Purple Paper back in to the Panels Office on Sunday after 12:00 PM and we'll have your rewards waiting.
What's different?
Panels are now a full hour (they used to be 50 minutes) with 15 minutes of setup and teardown time. Arrive early to set up and get comfy!
WE NO LONGER HANDLE YOUR BADGES
Please pre-reg and pick up your badge from Registration (or have it mailed in, if available). Registration is typically located in the Toronto Congress Centre (TCC) on the north side of Dixon Rd.
Camera-chan will make more appearance. Our archive camera will be filming panels nonstop.
Not Ready To Be a Panelist Yet?
That's okay, you can still help out by creating a thread in the forum and put "panel suggestion: whatever you wanna see" in the subject line.
Not sure ?
See you at the Teahouse of the Maple Moon and chat with Fingers or Mark.
Or email panels -at- animenorth com and we'll have a chat.
Fingers, The PanelGuru, Toot Toot!
(1) well, adding in a couple of hours to brush up on your topic before the con is
a better idea. And some scheming with the other peeps on it (2).. But at the actual convention, that's about it
(2) reading the LAQ threads (and/or the FAQ)is also a good idea.
(3) Notepad is doing very strange things tonight.
