Hello everyone. UPDATED HEREWe would really appreciate it if you would please come back here after Friday and let us know how we did. This will be a thread where people can share their experience at the Nominoichi. We want to hear about things that you thought we could improve upon. Problems you noticed, and anything we got right that you don't want to change next year. This is not for problems and improvements to other areas or departments of the convention, unless it is directly related to your Nominoichi experience. Please tell us if you think we did a good or bad job, and what we should do different or the same next year. If you had a particularly good or bad experience at the Nominoichi please share it here.

Hey Chris, just a possible suggestion for next Nominoichi in regards to requesting a table.
This event is one of my highlights at Anime North because it's such a blast interacting with new fans. Due to the increasing popularity and interest, there's always some anxiety waiting to hear back from you after submitting the request to see if I've managed to score a table. Unfortunately it was a bit worse this year due the email issue and not knowing for sure whether the request made it through to the Nominoichi inbox.
That being said, would it be possible to implement something similiar to an automatic out of office reply for the Nominoichi email address? Just a general message saying that your email has been received and your request will be processed with the others or anything really. I can't speak for everyone here, but getting some form confirmation that the email was received would help greatly and prevent me from going into panic mode and start firing off a dozen emails when you announce that you're nearly finished sending out "you got a table" emails.
Aside from that, the lead up, participation and moderation of this area of the forums has been terrific, and I'm sure the actual event will be the same!

I agree with this - it was a heart attack with my email bouncing! Although, hopefully that wouldn't happen again. Other than that, I hope there are no issues with the ceiling again like last year, and we'll all be fine

And so we finish another year! I didn't really sell as much as I hoped, but not much you can do about that. I did manage to get rid of some items that haven't sold in previous years though. Also, I realized I had more stuff than I thought, so I think next year I'll reserve a full table so I can maximize display space.
Good: Putting the buyers and sellers lines in different locations was a great idea. It made things a lot less confusing. Splitting the sellers line between odd and even table numbers also seemed to make things more efficient, so if you can do that again next year, please do!
Bad: This doesn't really have to do with the Nominoichi, but there was a line-up to get into the TCC's main entrance for people with passes already and I overheard that some people got stuck in that line. Personally I just went to the front because ain't nobody got time for that (I was behind schedule as it was), said I was a Nomi seller and was let in without much argument. If something similar is likely to happen next year, maybe in the "you got a table" email give instructions to sellers to go up front and perhaps have whoever manages the people manning the doors inform them to let Nomi sellers through (if you don't already).
To Improve: Overall this year turned out much better than last year organization-wise, at least from my perspective. Can't think specifically of anything that needs improving that I haven't already mentioned in the other two points.

Something I noticed from this year as well as last year is that it's a little troublesome to find a particular table. Not the biggest issue but nobody can really see the table number if its being blocked by people standing in front of the table browsing.
Distance between circles of tables seemed to be widened this year so that was good, more space to move down lanes.

1st year Nominochi - Completed!! I had no issues checking in or finding the tables since the staff/volunteers helped me every step of the way The only issue for was from knowing that the doorway from inside the convention area did not allow anyone entering the Hall. My friends were turned away at the door from the inside and were told they had to enter from the outside. I understand this at the beginning since a lot of people lined up outside to get inside the Nominochi first, however I would think that 1-2hrs after the event started that the inside door would have allowed attendees in since the outside line would have disappeared by then. This is also because I saw the Nominochi banner outside of Hall A, having seen this I would have assumed that the door under the banner would have allowed guest to enter the area.

darkinsanity13 nailed exactly what I was going to say (not as many sales either, but good profit and positive experience overall too). I had arrived at the TCC just before 5 PM and thought that I could enter the building, but numerous AN staffers told me that I had to join the other 5000 or so attendees in line, even if I had no intention of actually going into the dealers’ room. In fact, the “you got a table” email even said that we sellers could start lining up in hall B after 4 PM. One staff member by the entrance had nearly asked me if I was selling at Nominoichi (this was minutes before doors opened at 5), but then he said that the Nominoichi staff weren’t yet present. That main entrance line-up was a nightmare. I actually did get a bit anxious after queuing for an hour, worrying that I wouldn’t be able to check in on time. I should have been smarter and brought my “you got a table” email to show to OS as proof that I need priority access to get in. From my point of view, everything at this Nominoichi ran smoothly, and I really can’t think of any improvements that haven’t been mentioned. Thank you to Chris and all Nominoichi staff for organizing this year’s event. I’d definitely consider participating as a seller again. Let me throw in a few other shoutouts: To SalisofKnight, thank you for your hard work in maintaining the unofficial index of sellers. I hope you didn’t mind my (and others as well) driving you crazy with all those additions and changes on the forum. On a personal note, I enjoyed having shizuo as my table partner, and xDream3 was an awesome neighbour. It was great meeting you two.

Sorry I'm checking in so late - the Nomi was a LOT busier than I expected (I was only at the first two when it was mostly sellers trading each other). A lot of the hassles was more on my own end. It's actually BETTER than the dealer's room or comic market/crafter's corner - I had more trouble navigating that today as the aisles were less aligned and it seemed a lot narrower ...
There was only two things I could think of: 1) one was the map labelling the main entrance - on it it looked a LOT like the hall D one instead of the smaller one to the south. is there any way to make that clearer? *confused* I actually got hounded by ppl lining up the door w/out and with badges saying "How come she could go in first?!" which brings me to 2) is there any way we can go in another way avoiding the lineups for nomi/prereg pickup/etc? The exit ramp we used next to the concession stand was very convenient.

I had a great first time as a seller! (got rid of a bit more than half of my car load!) The only Major issue I encountered was that staff at the door were misinformed about the nomi. When I arrived with my helpers the staff at the door was saying we could not enter (a little after 4pm) to wait and we had to come back at 5. This also happened to a fellow seller who arrived at the event at the same time as me with alot of items too. The staff member after we informed him about the email instructions went and spoke to staff inside and fixed the mix up. (The staff I had spoke to earlier about lining up as the email suggested.) After that there were no issues for my helpers to get back in on their second trip to my car. I guess I would suggest next time have door staff know ahead of time when to expect sellers for the nomi to arrive, or have specific instructions for us to show them I guess the confirmation email we received? Other than that no issues finding our table and setting up. Was nice to get in ahead of schedule as well! Thank you to everyone who visited my table I had tons of fun

This was probably the smoothest Nominoichi that we had been to in our last few years selling! Barely any of a wait to get in and start setting up as a seller, more room for buyers to move around on the outside of the tables, and more room for the sellers to move around inside of the table loops as well. Also, all of the volunteers and staff that I interacted with were super awesome, helpful and friendly. Good job, Nominoichi people.

As a first-time attendee of AN, the nominoichi was a little confusing- particularly, the buyer's line to get in. My group had to run around to find it, as we had no idea what the actual layout of the convention center was like beforehand, and that led to quite a bit of trouble for us. We had atcually started lining up inside the building at the exit (apparently) for Hall A for 20 minutes, as the location for the buyer's line "had not yet been announced" as we were told by the staff, only to find out it was at a very small security door outside. Perhaps a larger sign outside would be benificial next year, because for those whose first time it is at AN, it's a little vexing.

It was definitely very confusing for buyers. Staff organization seemed to be quite horrible this year. I asked three different staff where the line-up for the entrance to Nominoichi was, and all three gave me different answers. A lot of people (and myself included) were herded into the line into the dealers' room, where we spent almost two hours in line in vain before finding out (after we got inside) that the entrance to Nominoichi was outside the TCC and had to go out and line up all again. It was very frustrating.
The event itself ran very smoothly though. I also found that the hall was well-ventilated this year.

Yeah Friday was insane this year in terms of lineups and organization. Partly due to the fact that more people showed up than we expected. Next year I will be bringing a flag for the Nominoichi buyers line so people know where it is and where the end of it is.

Nominoichi was a positive experience it went really well once we got in the room to start setting up. The only negative experience was having the volunteers move the sellers back and forth against the line up wall. They were confused about where we should line up and such. A simple mis-communication I am sure, but with huge heavy packages it is hard enough to just waddle through the TCC never mind move everything back and forth It would be nice to indicate a clear line up position next year for the sellers that is all. I am really happy over all with the nominoichi experience and hope to participate again next year
