As we are now in the final week I'd just like to make a few final updates and to go over some of the rules that were missed last year. 1) Sellers (people with a table and on the list) will line up inside the TCC Hall B. To get there you must go through the main entrance where the registration line is in Hall D, and then enter Hall B from inside the building. To get past the registration line you must already have your Anime North badge and show that to the person at the door. Do not say you are a "dealer" or you are going to the "Marketplace" as they may assume you want to go to the dealers room and send you to the wrong line. Instead you should say that you are a Nominoichi seller and you would like to go to Hall B. 2) Sellers will still line up inside Hall B, However, the exact location has been slightly moved. There should be a black drape along the short wall opposite the doorway (the southern side of the room). Sellers are to from a line behind that black curtain. There should be Public Safety staff members there to assist from 4:00. Do not line up before then and you can not drop your stuff there and go somewhere else. Remember that Nominoichi staff will only start to admit sellers into Hall A at 5:30 and not any sooner. 3) The event opens at 7:00 and ends at 10:30. After that sellers will have until 11:00 to pack away any remaining items and to exit the building. We strongly advise sellers who have a lot of stuff left to begin packing early. ANYONE who continues selling after 10:30, or who has not exited the building before 11:00, will no longer be welcome to sell at future Nominoichi events. These rules are clear: Stop selling at 10:30 and get out before 11:00. Those who follow these rules will be allowed back, those who don't won't. 4) Buyers (people who want to go shopping between 7:00-10:30) will form a single line in the parking lot. This line will actually bend around the front of the building as it grows and perhaps eventually circle all the way around to Hall C. If you are waiting in this line PLEASE be sure that people know it's a Nominoichi line, and NOT the main registration line. Show them your badge and ask to see theirs. If anyone doesn't have a badge, then tell them to go to the main registration area halfway down the side of the building at the HALL D entrance. Because our buyers line will cross the 'front' of the building it'll be the fist thing people see when they arrive. So we all have to help insure that everyone in line already has their badge and they know it's for the Nominoichi! finally... 5) Just a last reminder to everyone to please come back to these forums AFTER the Nominoichi and let us know how we did. What did we get right? What did we get wrong? How can we make the event better next year? We do read and appreciate all the feedback you can give. However, should you have any problems at the Nominoichi please come see us at the STAFF TABLES N114 and N115. Once the event ends we can't fix anything until next year. That's it. Thanks for all your interest and support for the Nominoichi!

what happens if nomi starts late? Wouldnt that cut everyone's shopping/ selling time if everything has to finish right at 10:30

thanks for the info chris! Last year finding the nomi line was a little confusing. Here's hoping it's better this year!

First: Obviously we plan for, and expect, everything to go right. Therefore our plan is to start at 7:00 and end at 10:30. However, sometimes that doesn't work out well.
For example: Just before the start of the Nominoichi IX (2014) an AC unit began to dump water all over the floor and several tables at 5:00. This was a major safety hazard and we had to delay admitting the sellers into the room for almost 40 min to get it all cleaned up. This resulted in starting the whole event about 30 min late. But even with that delay we still ended the event on time and decided to offer a $5 discount for returning sellers the following year (that was in 2015, not this year!)
If something were to happen to delay the start of the event this year then we will decide how to proceed. If the decision is made to extend the ending of the event, my staff and I will travel to every table to inform the sellers. However, even with a delay in starting, we may still decide to end on time and then to offer a discount again in the future.
For now you must assume the event will be from 7:00 to 10:30 unless specifically told otherwise by Nominoichi event staff.
Second: I just want to remind everyone that the line for sellers will still be in the same room (TCC Hall B) as it was last year. Please go back to the same place. It's just that once inside the room the line is now going to be along the short wall, behind a black curtain, instead of along the long wall. The only change is we've rotated the line 90 degrees. Same room, different wall.

a bit short notice and probably not the right thread to ask but are we allowed to hang price signs from the front of the table? In the rules it said no hanging from the table but i wasnt 100% sure if it just meant merchandise and if not signs

do we make our comments regarding afterwards here?
1) the line to get into nominoichi should not have been a zigzag as it was very painful for some people to drag their inventory from one side of the room to the other and then back again, it should have been 3 lines which when one is filled the next starts
2) if possible for next year allow us to start setup 30min-60minutes earlier, even that 30minutes can be a breath of fresh air 2.5) also if possible for Nominoichi to start earlier as alot of people arrive at 1 or even earlier so if Nomi started at 6 and Vendors were alowed to begin setup at 3 or 4 it would be amazing
3) you were very well organized overall and staff was well informed,
4)it also seemed that those of us with alot of stuff were pulled to the front of the line to get is setup faster and we appreciate it
5) keep up the good work

I agree with the line thing, that was a bit of a pain unless you were in the first portion. The earlier set up time would have been nice since we didn't actually get the 1.5 hours we were supposed to, either give us more time to set up in case you guys don't let us in at the right time OR since you guys didn't let us in right away, delay the event until the sellers have the 1.5 hours to set up. The only notice we had that we had no more time to set up was the horn to start opening the doors, talk about a shock since we weren't 100% done. I would absolutely hate an earlier start time. Any seller like me (and all my tablemates) that work 8-4 or 9-5 would not be able to join. We barely made it for the times this year I couldn't imagine us being able to make it earlier unless we somehow got the day off. I could also add for my full time friends who did get the day off (and that weren't nomi sellers) that the later start time allows people to scout the dealers room for the stuff that goes in an instant or just compare prices before heading over to nomi. Putting nomi earlier would make people have to choose between the two and probably lower traffic through nomi (unless you made the selling longer but sellers were dying of heat and dehydration throughout at the current length!). Also, I heard mixed messages about being able to use our friends to help bring stuff in. We were told no and therefore had to run back and forth from the car to table (delaying our set up speed) but then found out that others were allowed to bring others to bring stuff in as long as they left right after dropping the stuff off. Since I never remember seeing that we were allowed to have people, either make a ruling that we can or can't cause I got a bit miffed when we heard some people had extra help when ours was told to leave. So other than the start time being messed up I think it went pretty well though! Thank you for organizing it and allowing us all to participate. I would also like to super thank you for all the chairs since I remember being told we'd only get 2 (we ended up with 3~, never sat down the entire event but the chairs were put to good use).

I would also like to super thank you for all the chairs since I remember being told we'd only get 2 (we ended up with 3~, never sat down the entire event but the chairs were put to good use). I'll piggy back off of what you're saying as well, ha ha. They actually did start letting people in around the proper time? I don't remember being let in incredibly late? That being said, my friends and I were at 2 tables that were jam-packed full of items and we were sitting around for about 20 minutes waiting for buyers to be let in since we were done our set up early, and our set up was not an easy one to figure out. I don't remember seeing anywhere that sellers will have exactly 1.5 hours to set up. I was actually surprised with how fast we were able to get in, they got the line moving pretty fast and I felt it was very organized in that regard. If you're further in line though, you will not have 1.5 hours to set up because the 1.5 hours is from when they start letting people in, to when they start letting the buyers in. I feel like asking them to delay the event so that everyone has 1.5 hours to set up is a little unreasonable, since the people who get in later who were at the further end of the sellers line should have already figured that they wouldn't get 1.5 hours to set up. Think about it from the buyers perspective, nobody likes to have events delayed and Anime North and the Nominoichi staff try their hardest to keep everything running on time so that the events can go for their maximum amount of time. I would rather have buyers in right at 7 with no delays, even if I wasn't finished setting up my table because that gives people more time to buy my things. Most of the buyers (about 95%) went by my table at least twice, so it's not like the things you haven't put out yet won't get seen or bought eventually. It might just take a little bit more time for you to get things onto the table. Not everyone can have 1.5 hours, that's all. Just have to manage your set up time wisely, maybe set out all your items on a table of a similar size before the event next time so that you'll have less of a shock if you find yourself getting into the Nominoichi later? There were no friends being let into the Nominoichi event space that weren't registered as sellers. I don't know who was murmuring about it, but that's been an enforced rule for years now. Also, to make your time a little easier if you're planning on selling in the future, maybe invest in a better solution for getting your items into the event? We packed a couple large suitcases full of our items so it was easy to wheel everything in during 1 trip. Or perhaps some sort of portable dolly would help for next time rather than having to run back and forth from a car? I hope i'm not sounding too harsh or anything! I just want to give you some helpful advice for future years of participation and comment on your comments about it. My friends and I have been sellers at the Nominoichi for about 6-7 years now and I felt like this was the smoothest Nominoichi yet! So everything being said, sellers from tables N172&N173 were very pleased with how organized and friendly everyone was, and were also pleasantly surprised about the extra chairs at the tables Our only complaint would be the heat in the room when the buyers started piling in but i'm sure that there's not a lot you can do about that since the A/C was already on in that area I believe, ha ha. Great job guys! Keep up the good work

Keep up the good work Thank you for the advice but we were watching the clock and sellers weren't being allowed into the room until after 5:30 thats all and we weren't that far back in line maybe a quarter back at most. Maybe the way we were arranged around the corner just made it seem like we only started being let in/moving after 5:30 rolled around and left since we couldn't actually see anything. The set up would have been fine as well assuming we brought everything in one go. I did bring a suitcase full of my stuff but my tablemates brought many boxes so that would be something we could easily fix. There was one row that actually had an ac unit above them! I was so jealous. They were right behind us too. Again tyvm I just wanted to get my thoughts out quickly while they were still fresh!

My only suggestion would be to block off a portion of the parking specifically for Nomi sellers closer to the venue so people aren't dragging boxes from the north building, lol

my table was right where the stage was, and because it was there the walking space was small and so they had staff continually tell attendees to keep moving and to move in only 1 direction. i understand the issue and i dont complain about the reasons, maybe next time either have more space for walking or remove unnecessary equipment from the hall. other then that time to get in moved pretty quickly. i believe i was around halfway in the line took about 30 min to get in. so i can understand people who were alot further not getting alot of time to set up. in the end it was a very successful nomi. thank you

Someone behind us was selling only fashion stuff and they were able to have their stuff on the table as well as on a rolling rack and they were selling shoes and stuff out of boxes on the floor. I thought selling things out of boxes on the floor/under the table was against the rules? Also I had read somewhere that fashion sellers had to choose to either put their stuff on the table or on their rolling rack, not both. Because I read that I didn't bring any sort of rolling rack for the fashion items on our table and we ran out of space and weren't able to put all our fashion items on the table because of it. If I had brought the rack everything would have fit no problem. It just seemed a bit unfair to me. That was probably my only criticism about this year's event.

Thanks again for another great year! Everything seemed to run pretty smoothly from what I could see.
Suggestions:
- Think about starting to admit sellers into the room a bit earlier (maybe 5 instead of 5:30), as the only sellers that actually get the 1.5 hours to set up are those few in the very front of the line. We had lined up around 4:30-4:45 and we only had about an hour to set-up by the time we got inside. As a seller that had numerous items to pick up from others, it was quite a scramble for me to run around and try to grab everything I had on hold and get back to my table before it opened (I only got through about half of them before the whistle sounded, but luckily I have a partner that can watch the table for a few minutes).
- I think someone else suggested this, but I agree that having two lines (one for even tables and one for odd) is a great idea (if the two tables have separated lists - one even and one odd (I'm not sure if they do or not)). If both tables have the same lists, and one is waiting for sellers, then they should just take whoever is next in line instead of sending someone down the line to try and find one even table when there's 5+ sellers with odd numbers in the line.
- I couldn't quite tell if there was a water station in the hall or not, but if there wasn't one there definitely should be. It seemed to be much warmer in the hall this year than it was last year.

Welcome back Nominoichi sellers, buyers, and fans! I feel we had a very successful year, and I want to thank everyone for leaving us some feedback. If you haven't done so already, please let us know how you think we did and what we could do better in the future. Anyway, now we'll try to hopefully address some of the concerns raised here: 1) The sellers area of Hall B was changed at the last moment, so we has a much shorter area to line up in. The line made a sort of S shaped bend. Therefore, sellers near the middle had to drag their stuff down to the opposite end, before turning back to the front. Next year, assuming the space is the same, we will instead attempt to break the sellers into a few lines so all sellers are moving in one direction. 2) The Sellers line is scheduled to start admitting people from 5:30, and not before. However, this year we were able to start the process a little early. The first seller was let in at 5:20. The line of sellers was totally admitted in before 6:30, but we had late sellers showing up right until seven. 3) Like past years we used two tables and split the sellers into ODD and EVEN numbers, this will likely be our pattern for the future as it's easier to for us to manage it this way. Although there were moments where a number of ODD or EVEN sellers were clumped together, overall the system worked very fast and efficiently. 4) The various times for the Nominoichi are fixed because my staff and I also have other jobs and duties at the convention that can only be done on Friday before 5:00. Our team is working at full throttle from noon to Midnight on Friday. While this schedule is certainly not unique to our department, and there are many staff members who'll work even longer, this does mean that we cannot extend, nor can we move forward, the set-up time. 5) The combination of the weather, and the number of people, did make the room uncomfortably hot. There was a water station right near the main entrance, between the washrooms. I believe it was refilled several times during the event. It would also be a good custom to bring your own water bottle both to the Nominoichi and around the rest of the convention too. Next year we may try to have a second station in Hall A, but that's something to be negotiated later. 6) There should have been no " mixed messages" about unlisted people getting admitted. The sellers letter very clearly spelled out the rules: While several people did attempt to violate this rule, we continue to enforce it. However, It is very possible, and allowed, for sellers with a full table to list someone as a "seller" (to insure they receive one of the three ribbons for that table) but only use that person to assist with set-up. Not all sellers have to stay there selling all night. There was also one exception to the rule, because a seller had broken their arm a few days earlier we allowed them to bring an unlisted friend to help them. 7) We have been fighting for years, YEARS, to get a few additional chairs. This year we got more than we asked for, but I was very glad to have them. Did anyone feel that we had too many, were the chairs getting in the way? 8) The Buyers line was long. I asked a few people how far back they were waiting, and it seemed to wrap all the way around the building to the SUBWAY on the other side, and beyond. But, as long as that line was, we quickly were able to admit all the sellers into the Hall and had eliminated the line by about 7:30 9) While I don't think it'd be possible to reserve a parking section for Nominoichi sellers, we will be looking into other methods to assist sellers in bringing in stuff to sell. 10) We always do our best to insure sellers are following the 50-50 rule, but we can't see every table at once. If you suspect a seller might be unclear of the rules, even if you are not sure, please let us know at the Staff tables. We can't do anything about rumours from this year, but if it happens again next year please let us know during the Nominoichi. I hope this has answered, and responded, to some of your feedback. Should you have anything else to say we are listening. While we can't act on every idea, we do read and appreciate them all. .. and a very big thanks to everyone for all you interest and support of the Nominoichi!
