Quick question about reserving tables - if you haven't purchased a pass to AN yet (got to wait until next pay day) would that impact my chances of reserving a table?

Nope.
You can reserve your badge after you reserve a table. I believe there a few people waiting to see if they can secure a table reservation before getting a membership.
However, be aware the getting a Nominoichi table does NOT include, nor promise, a membership. Once they are sold out you can't get one even you have a table.
