I would be interested in being a panelist, if there's room on the panel? It sounds like there is quite a lot of interest!
Apologies if I've misunderstood: I'm getting up to speed on a bunch of the other panel suggestions, and, I am wondering, how does this differ from Convention / Cosplay Etiquette (for example)? The emphasis appears to be in online fandom moreso?
I think this panel has a lot of potential! I do a podcast on fandoms and there are often common threads of toxicity that run across multiple fandoms, and at best we are able to explain why they are but the focus is not often on the 'what to do about it'.
Maybe it would be good in this panel to talk about things like visible and invisible harm to communities, the impact of actions in groups (positive and negative), bystander intervention, representation. Also, how solutions to toxicity don't need to be perfect / all-at-once; small steps and actions can have impact too.

Con Etiquette is like "brush your teeth and put on deodorant daily so you don't add to the collective con body odour", while I think this idea is more like "why is there toxicity in fandom in the first place, what made the toxicity grow and fester from a sociological and behavioral view, and what can be done to reduce the toxicity (even though changing the behaviour of a large group of people can feel impossible)".
The current name for the thread is too long for the guidebook. Would "Toxicity in Fandom" suffice?

Just a heads up folks - this is a great panel idea and we need to talk about these issues. But there is so much potential for it to blow up that I am very wary about giving it final approval unless I can line up a staff moderator I trust to oversee it and keep it on track. Nothing brings out toxicity like telling people their behavior is toxic. I'll be talking to Fingers and various staff members to see if we can go forward with that.

Many people have been victims of toxic behaviour, so it's very important for a panel like this to be safe.

To clarify, this panel will not happen unless it can have a staff moderator?

I volunteer as tribute!
*ahem!* I mean I’ll volunteer as a staffer to help moderate this panel if it doesn’t interfere with Café Nocturne.

For those interested, I created a panel on ANPanels:
Topic: Addressing Toxicity in Fandom Track: Meta A/V: No Description: Fandoms can become toxic and drive away fans. We'll focus on identifying what is toxic in fandom and what we can all do to make it better!

The current name for the thread is too long for the guidebook. Would "Toxicity in Fandom" suffice? I believe that will be the best course of action. I will make sure to write a description that outlines that this isn't a person worth respecting and moan panel as well. My fear is the name is going to give readers the wrong idea so the description will have to save it, as well as prefacingthe panel by discouraging fandom bashing/bitching and/or moaning
