I proposed this idea in the panel suggestions list and people seemed interested! This panel will talk about all the things that you should do and those things to avoid when there's only a few days left and you've barely done anything! I don't know about you guys but practically all of my cosplays are made about a week before the con ^^ I think it'd be fun to exchange tips and tricks.

Are you planning on having panelists who focus on different parts of the con?
For example, I'm not interested in cosplay panels or events. I used to spend almost the whole con at panels and in the dealer's room. Last year I decided to focus on events I've never really attended before, like game shows.

Exactly! Ideally, I'd like to find maybe two people who specialize in cosplay and cosplay related events while two other people specialize in the other aspects of the con, like game shows and other events like Nominoichi (which is madness to deal with at the best of times when it comes to the week before). I think we can all relate to planning for a panel and the dealer's room insanity.

Are you focusing on people who want to run events or be contestants, or those who want to be in the audience?
I don't really think we need a panel about how to prepare for panels as a panelist, since we have the FAQ and this forum.
Also, there are many cosplay panels, so discussing how to prepare cosplay would already be covered.

This panel would be much more focused on the people who procrastinate and not necessarily how to make a cosplay or how to prepare your cosplay. If anything, we would spend only a little time talking about how to take a cosplay from nothing to a full outfit in only 3 days. But it would be more centered around do's and don'ts of trying to survive. Also, there was a lot of talk last year about having a panel that talks about preparing for panels since there's a lot of people who don't understand the work that goes into it or are even on this forum but we wouldn't be talking very much about how to prep for that. We could cover those who want to run events/be contestants and then have a time that talks about scheduling yourself during the con when you've just barely made it through the week to prepare for it.

I did a panel about running panels ages ago. I do wonder how it helps since if anyone remembered the tips, it would be for the next convention. I'm pretty sure there are tips on how to prepare a panel in the LAQ (to be posted), but I'll keep making a guide in mind.

One thing that might help is maybe a video? I know that idea was tossed around too. Last year was my first year running panels and a lot of people weren't sure how to go about doing that. There were even people who didn't know this forum existed. I'm not sure how you guys would spread the word around (more than you already do) but I know I wouldn't mind a panel about running panels It would definitely be informative since there's people that have been doing it for over a decade.

The AN site's sidebar links to the forum directly, and we tend to link to the forum on social media. Please keep in mind, though, that you don't need to post in the forum to recruit or apply for panels.

Hi there! I've been cosplaying for 5 years now and am a slave to #concrunch. I've pulled plenty of all-nighters and even a 72 hour long crazed sewing styling and painting marathon. I've definitely picked up a few things on how to avoid con crunch, what to do when you find yourself in it and how to handle no sleep when you're finally at the con. I would love love love to be on the panel!! (Ive done two panels before and I think they are really fun)

This would work well for someone who cosplays, takes photos, or panels. I think a lot of attendees can attest to the sleepless nights and long hours of con crunch. I cosplay, arrange photoshoots, host shoots, and do panels. I try to avoid con crunch but...it sneaks up on you.
I think a brief intro of each panelist, followed by a brief 'worst con crunch' moment could start things up. Maybe mention how to avoid it? I know 'Cosplay 101' will cover a lot of researching and such, but this could work well as a backup.
ie. So this anime came out, and you really want to make such-n-such character, but AN is only a month away, can you do it? SHOULD YOU DO IT?

Panelists are supposed to be qualified when they apply, so I don't think each panelist needs to do a couple minute introduction each, unless you're a professional cosplayer, special guest, etc.

It gets the ball rolling, and hamster wheel-controlled brain moving so the topic can flow. I think most of the people who do apply to this panel will be an expert in some aspect (likely MORE or ALL), from photo backlog, to running out of fabric, to finding a ride, to scheduling your events properly so they don't overlap and you can run from each and make sure everything runs smoothly (AH!), to making last minute adjustments to schedule, panels, costumes. Yikes.

Yikes. I have experienced literally all of those things, being both a cosplayer, a photographer and a panelist. I'm assuming those who apply will have gone through their own struggles and we can (hopefully) offer some great advice to avoid wanting to pull out every hair you have on your head (and maybe some on your arms)

If everyone throws in a horror story, you’ve just spend 15 minutes without starting. My introductions are VERY brief F
