Not gonna lie, I'm kinda on the fence on whether or not I'll be doing panels this year (I'll decide by the time the BOOONG email goes out), but I figure I may as well get the ball rolling on this one since I don't see a topic for it yet. So! The popular superhero shonen series! The third season will be underway during AN, so there's definitely gonna be plenty to talk about both for manga readers and anime watchers. We can discuss our favourite heroes, villains, the worldbuilding, and more! That said, because a lot's happened in the manga and there seems to be a good chunk of people who only watch the anime, I'd like to recommend dedicating the last 15 minutes (or even splitting it evenly to 25 minutes each) to discussing events in the manga past where the anime has shown as of the week before AN. Not much time, I know, but I think doing that sort of thing has proved somewhat successful with other series and panels in the past?

I will be applying for this one. I did this panel at another convention where there certainly was enough to talk about anime wise for most of the panel. We'll see how the spoiler policy is for this year when posted.
If selected, I have some powerpoint slides that may be useful for structuring discussion, particularly since the deadline for slides is usually early for Anime North.

If selected, I have some powerpoint slides that may be useful for structuring discussion, particularly since the deadline for slides is usually early for Anime North. It's less that I'm worried about lack of discussion material for the anime, and more of I want the chance to discuss events in the manga that are past where the anime is since recent events in the manga have me eager to discuss them, and I'm sure I won't be the only one in that regard. As for the slides, personally I'm not a fan of using powerpoint presentations for discussion panels (I find them kind of unnecessary), but that's me and as I stated at the beginning I'm still on the fence on whether or not I'll be panelling this year so my opinion may not even be a factor.

I would also love to be on this panel and will apply to. Depending on what is discussed should really decide if presentation is necessary. I hope I get selected because this would be in interesting discussion. Especially the comparison to similar titles.

Once again, a HeroAca presentation will mostly likely be rejected since it is unnecessary.

I imagine the Con would rather not waste resources but it is seeming really restrictive this year. I would assume the difference is that with presentations you are talking to the audience, either trying to impart knowledge they may not already have or sway them to your opinion, while with panels it's more about talking with the audience, leading a discussion about everyone's favourite things about the series and bouncing theories and ideas off each other. I'm in agreement with crownowa that in the case of the latter, having presentation equipment is unnecessary, as while it does help to keep people on topic, if panelists are doing their job right and properly moderating the discussion and maintaining its flow, it's not at all needed. The other thing with panels discussing series/franchises is that it's generally safe to assume that your audience has already watched and/or read the material, so even if it's cool to show clips or panels to kinda sell the point, I find it takes away from the discussion itself and restricts the amount of time you could be actually talking just refreshing an audience that's already familiar with what you're talking about.

I'll definitely be applying too!
Can you imagine how full it's room will be?

I'll definitely be applying too! Can you imagine how full it's room will be? Hm, considering the popularity of the series, especially with the boost season 2 gave it (and considering what's coming in season 3, it'll likely go up more), I'd imagine it'd garner one of the larger panel rooms with a full house or close to it, but that's something the panel organizers decide.

I agree there's no point to showing video clips but even having an individual slides with a title and some pictures for each discussion topic (e.g. favourite heroes, villains, shipping, etc) doesn't harm a panel discussion and only adds to it, particularly for topics like shipping which benefit from that visual medium. That's my experience anyway from running a variety of panels at a variety of conventions.
It should also be noted that a good presentation will also draw upon comments from the audience, to a lesser degree yes, but otherwise your audience will get bored of you talking for 50 minutes.
If anime north is more strict in the panel vs presentation divide and will not let one use powerpoint for a panel then fair enough, each convention has its own rules to be followed.

I am still intrested in being on this panel and have a few ideas for it that don't require presentation. Lol

I assure you that HeroAca doesn't requireb a presentation to be engaging to the audience. I don't think it warrants AV equipment, which may actually force this panel into a smaller room, since the largest rooms usually only have mics.
I don't need my staff title to say "no presentation necessary" - that would be from doing panels and presentations at AN for over 10 years.
