I'd love to help out on this! Between working 2 jobs and being a student, I know I rarely have time to watch my favourite animes but I started budgeting my time more and now I have time for it! I could even bring in my time schedule and how I balance it all.

I don't know how to word this, but... like, I'd assume if someone wanted to watch anime, they'd make the time. Most episodes are only 20 minutes. What exactly would you cover? Everyone's life is different, so even if you shared your life schedules, it really wouldn't apply to anyone else.

A general panel about how to make time to do x is okay, but there is a specific mindset you need to be in to jump into a show that will end up taking a lot of your time. I think this panel should discuss how to motivate yourself to invest a lot of time into something you may not end up enjoying, and how to quickly research if you'd like a show so you waste as little time as possible on duds.

I think this panel should discuss how to motivate yourself to invest a lot of time into something you may not end up enjoying, and how to quickly research if you'd like a show so you waste as little time as possible on duds. Why would you ever do that when it's a form of entertainment? I mean i get it for working out and the like (I don't always enjoy that but do it as its good for me and I care about how I look) - but why do you watch stuff you don't like? Actually curious here. |

Kuku, this is what I get for responding right when I wake up on vacation.
What I meant is how to motivate yourself to get into a show, especially one with multiple cours / seasons, when you have a nagging feeling that you're not using your time as best as you could, even though you want to watch the show or are willing to cut time to other activities like gaming. Some tips on doing homework to find out if you'll actually like the show may help ease you into watching the show, even if its one episode a week.
I only have a hard time wanting to watch longer, existing series, since I have enough time for hours of entertainment a day, but that's not the case for everyone. I found that watching shows while doing chores or cardio is a good use of my time.

The original topic seemed to be "let's discuss how to clear time in your schedules to physically sit down and watch anime". You either make time or you don't. About the only thing that could be discussed are personal anecdotes, which are of limited use when everyone has their own unique life. What you just described is a much more useful topic, "how to determine if a series is worth investing your time in". Discussion topics could include balancing hype vs. legitimate community buzz, the role of professional reviewers (eg. ANN) vs. friend's opinions, and perhaps a debate on which material (manga, anime, light novels, etc.) people consume first. Among other stuff. |

I generally don't watch anime while doing it as I don't watch dubbed very often. But it's great for catching up on Supernatural. |

Actually curious here.So, because this is something I actually do, my explanation: For the panel(s). Especially with on demand and simulcast streaming opening up so many shows per season, per year, there is a high probability that content that will be relevant to a panel topic, and the newer and closer to the con, the greater likelihood it will be brought up, is. Unfortunately, there seems to be a tendency for bland, cut and paste, shonen to also have a very specific focus/hook on a niche subject, which is relevant to a panel. For me, last year it was Armed Girls Machiavellianism and this year it is Katana Maidens, that I am forced to slog through. I know it's trash, but it's relevant, topical trash and that means I need to watch it. |
