A bit of an offbeat title, but I thought it was funny.
A panel discussing anime-to-hollywood remakes, and why they tend to be as appealing as munching on week-old dog vomit.
Take your pick: Deathnote Speed Racer Ghost in the Shell The Last Airbender Dragonball: Evolution A few more, such as the threatened J.J. Abrams remake of Your Name...
Anyone interested?

What about "Hollywood Live Action: Please Stop"?
I hardly watch live action because they tend to be... Underwhelming, to say the least. Even for dramams that require no CGI. The only live action I liked from beginning to end is the Taiwanese version of Skip Beat. This is a long way of me to say that I'm not qualified for this panel.

Oh yeah this is definitely something I'd take part in. I think Hollywood needs to stop treating anime fans like children who will be happy with anything they get. if the backlash to Death Note and Ghost in the Shell were any indication though i'd like to hope they got the message. So glad they haven't gone through with the Akira movie yet.

Death Note wasn't Hollywood, it was Nerflix.

So why does Japan get a free pass on producing terrible live action adaptations of anime? Frankly, focusing on western adaptations just openly ignores all of the off the rails and bad live action adaptations coming out of Japan. Maybe a more productive angle would be to discuss the challenges in adapting anime to live action in the first place? The budgetary differences between 'impressive animation' and 'impressive live action effects'? Fan expectations vs reality where you discuss that if fans want a live action adaptation that is IDENTICAL to the animated version, why want adaptations at all if there's no room for changes? You could draw comparisons to other adaptations? (Charlton Heston 's The Omega Man and Will Smith's I Am Legend are both adaptations of THE SAME BOOK. ) The challenges in adapting Japanese content to a broader 'Non-Weaboo' audience to ensure financial success? I just think this could be a lot more interesting than 'poop on western adaptations of anime for 50mins'.

So, what was the working title of the panel if someone wanted to register? Or has it been filled?

Japan should be good at adaptations as long as CG isn't required. However, I remember the first episode of Negima live action and it was the worst live action I've ever seen (and Sailor Moon live action isn't too bad to be campy either). Its pretty much why I've avoided Japanese live action ever since. I did like the first seasons of live action Gokusen and Hana Yori Dango though.

So why does Japan get a free pass on producing terrible live action adaptations of anime? Come to the panel and find out Well, no, if you can't sell the idea to me I'm not going go to the panel. Not that you HAVE to sell the idea to me but from the information provided it sounds, well, frankly, lacking in an understanding of the actual topic of the panel and with little useful information to present, so with that the best you can respond with is 'Come and find out', I'd pass. Not that a panel as is can't work. I mean, there are plenty of nerds who would happily attend a panel that simply trashes western adaptations because it would feed any complexes about the 'Unchallenged Superiority Of Anime' or something. And if you can show what those people want, more power to you, but I'll pass.
