I think a lot of people commenting on this thread didn’t see the original post people were reporting and talking about.
The post in question was literally selling exact items (and multiples of each) I have seen a dealer sell at other cons, ie more like a dealer not a Nominoichi seller.
So that’s what people are talking about selling multiples of ‘brand new’ items is wrong. Not if someone is selling ‘brand new’ items from their personal collections. Hopefully this clears it up for you all ^^

Alright, Wow. Lots of discussion here. Some of it is drifting a bit off topic, but that's fine. To address a few points raised: 1) There is nothing wrong with sellers using 'new' or 'unopened' or phrases like that to describe items. Sellers are not required to open every box nor unwrap every package. It is permitted to sell unused items at the Nominoichi. However, the official position of the Nominoichi is: Because claims of 'newness' can not be verified they are irrelevant. We therefore consider all items sold to be used. Regardless of any declarations made by any seller. We hope that all sellers are operating in good faith, and being honest about their items, but we can not ignore the possibility of bad actors making false claims. For that reason buyers who are concerned about purchasing 'brand new' items should look in the Dealers room. The stuff in there is new, the stuff in the Nominoichi stuff is not. 2) There is nothing against the current rules to prevent sellers from offering multiple copies of the same item. It is our opinion that creating new rules expressly to prevent sellers from offering more than an arbitrary amount of duplicate items would be very difficult and time consuming to enforce, while resulting in very little benefit to the event. However, like all the rules at the Nominoichi, we are very interested in hearing your feedback and ideas. The rules for 2019 haven't been written and that would be the best time to make any changes. There will be threads on this forum to share your ideas and feedback after the event. 3) We already have rules in place about using the forums to take pre-orders (no) about offering handmade items, like you'd find in the Crafters' Corner (also no) or selling items you'd find in the Comic Market (again, no). These rules continue to apply even in small amounts, like a handful. Should you see any post or thread that appears to be violating these rules, or any rule, please use the "report post" option (even if you are not sure) and we will take a look at it. I hope this helps to clarify a few things. If you have more to say keep the feedback coming. ... and thanks to everyone for your interest in the Nominoichi!

I don't usually comment on discussions, but as both a buyer and seller I would like to leave my two cents on the topic.
It is a fact that there are sellers who stock up on items and resell them like dealers. I have seen that every year since the first one at Nomi. However, I also think that's a small percentage and that their things are specialized that you don't find in the dealers room. These items usually orient more towards what is higher in demand that year and imported, and there's not a lot of those around either. In fact, those are pretty high in demand because you can't find them elsewhere.
Personally I don't see a problem about that. It's like going to a flea market in real life. How many flea markets nowadays sell only used items?
Nomi as a whole is a treasure hunt, and even people selling "brand new, multiple items" still fits that definition for me.
