Hi everyone!
This is my first year cosplaying, and I'm going to try and have a cannon prop ready for AN 2018.
What exactly is allowed/unallowed? My cannon wouldn't be functional (doesn't shoot), isn't sharp (no blades), and isn't a fire hazard (no electronics/circuits/batteries). I was thinking of making one end of the cannon "screwable" so I could hide some of my belongings there. Would this be considered a hazard since they might be worried something could be hidden? I don't really see how this is too different from carrying a backpack/luggage. But I'd like to double check before I make it!
Also, stupid question, but what is peace bonding?
Thanks <3

As long as your cannon isn't made of metal (the main prop/weapon no-no), it sounds fine to me! Basically at prop check, you have to explain what your prop is, what is it made out of, and in some cases, proving it will not function like how the weapon it is based off of would (ie: showing that a bow will not function to shoot as the drawstring is made of a non-elastic material). Then after doing so and the prop is approved, the weapons volunteers will attach a zip tie to your prop and place a sticker on the back of your badge. Lastly they have to take a photo of you with you prop to verify that it is yours and that you took it to prop check. That's all there is to it! If you have any specific questions regarding your prop materials and what is/is not allowed, you can contact the weapons master! I don't have their email on hand right now but I believe it will be in one of the prop threads!
