I really wanted to do this panel last year but it was my first time applying and I didn't really know how these things worked.
I inhale sports and shounen series like oxygen and I have so many series I'm passionate about I want to bring to a broader audience.
We can talk about classics that are still great but don't make the mainstream spotlight like Slam Dunk and Eyeshield 21.
We can talk about genuinely underrated and underappreciated sports anime like Ace of Diamond and Baby Steps.
How about amazing niche sports manga like Koko no Hito and Teppu?
We can talk about these and more. I'd love to have other people as passionate alongside to make this panel a reality.

Very nice.
Are media about Asian (cultural) sports usually more underappreciated, like Chihayafuru, Saki, Legend of Koizumi, Hanayamata, and 3gatsu no Lion?
Are there way more people familiar with Inital D's OST than the anime?
Was Hanebado underappreciated or did it actually suck a bit?

Sangatsu no Lion and Chihayafuru are two of my all time favourite anime. Also, yes. Hanebado sucked. I have very passionate feelings on how it fucked itself over.

Do you count made up sport series as well, like Stride, Keijo, and Ao no Kanata?
I was so excited to watch a badminton anime, but Hanebado was so disappointing. Thank God we have Run with the Wind.

I think everything sports anime would be great to talk about. I admittedly haven't seen Keijo but I don't doubt its greatness from the praise.
I personally tried watching Prince of Stride, but found it lacking.
And Run with the Wind is everything I've ever wanted. These running boys have me in years every Tuesday

I avoided sports anime most of my life, and starting with more mature series reeled me in. I really appreciate that Run with the Wind is about adults in college.

There's also Bamboo Blade (moe meets Kendo) and the much older Musashi no Ken. Surprisingly few Kendo focused series despite its ubiquity.

Then I highly recommend "REAL", an amazing and nuanced sports manga on disabilities, both in body and mind when it comes to aspirations and sports. It's from the creator of Slam Dunk

One Outs. That series taught me baseball and was awesome.
I kinda just expect sport anime and manga to be good at this point lol

Someone signed up under "Unappreciated Sports Anime" and forgot "Manga". Please remember to use the same name as this thread when signing up.
I also realized that Ive only read a short manga on figure skating...
