Hey everyone!
I would be interested in doing this panel (even though there was one last year) especially since we are preparing for the imminent releases of Evangelion 4.0!
I think suggested topics for the panel this year would be:
- the philosophical and psychological influences of Eva - speculation: what does the released footage for the end of the Rebuilds? - retrospective: what does Eva mean to you? Have the Rebuilds enhanced/damaged your enjoyment of the originals? - why is Jet Alone secretly awesome?
Interested in more panelists and more topics. Cheers!

Hey there, I'd love to join this panel if you'd have me.
I think it would be interesting to include a examination of the early production stages of Eva and discuss some of the incredibly talented Gainax staff that worked on it. I feel like a lot of the production details gets simplified into "Gainax was poor" or "Anno was depressed" so I think it would be helpful and informative to the average viewer of the show.

Wasn't their budget pretty small to begin with, and then it was cut even more when around when they made the episode with the sex scene?

Wasn't their budget pretty small to begin with, and then it was cut even more when around when they made the episode with the sex scene? Yeah essentially, Gainax had a hard time initially marketing the series for a whole list of reasons. Some quite understandable (like the subject material) and some a bit more silly (toy companies thought the Eva units were too skinny). Further events throughout the shows production (like the Tokyo sarin gas attack) caused a huge pitfall in the show's budget. It's a topic I personally find super fun to dive into since there are very few translated interviews with Gainax staff.

You sound very knowledgeable on this topic, I'd love to have you as a part of the panel! I think the next step is that we both submit this panel on anpanels.com when that one opens?

Yup! Although usually I think you want to wait until you can get 4 panelists before submitting so everyone's on the same page and so that we all write the same information on your applications. I doubt it will take very long though, Evangelion always seems to get 4 panelists fairly swiftly.

Just use the same panel title and you'll be automatically added together. If you make a typo, we can combine the panels on our end.

Okay! I've registered the panel as "Neon Genesis Evangelion". Hope to see you on the other side kipper!
If anyone else wants to join in but doesn't want to post here, you can probably just register through anpanels.com.
Cheers!

I was on the panel a few years back and WOO that was a ride. It was at 11pm and yet we had almost a full ballroom. With 4.0 coming soon, and then the Netflix butchering of the series.... there's a lot to unpack here and it'd be super exciting to be part of it with the fandom getting more active again. I'd be so down to join on the team again for this especially after a couple years of buffer. There's a lot of new(old) content to go through, and see how things have changed with the new dub.

I was on the panel last year too so if you need an extra set of hands, I've applied for it!
