Hey everyone. Me and a group of friends are planning to host the Unpopular Opinions panel at AN2020. We hosted it for the first time last year at AN2019 and despite it being absent from the 2017 and 2018 schedule, we managed to fill the entire room. As of right now, I believe we have a full list of panelists, but I made this thread for two main reasons.
Firstly, in the event that I need to find an additional panelist.
Secondly, to get any feedback on last years panel. It's kind of a crazy panel to manage and alot depends on how much audience participation we manage to get, but I'm hoping to hear suggestions from those who attended last year on how we can improve it for 2020.
info from last year;
Panel Name: Unpopular Opinions Section: Fangasm Description: Share your unpopular opinions alongside our panelists and defend them from all scrutiny! Compete for the love (or hatred) of our audience members! Projector?: No 18+?: No

Hey there! I loved the Unpopular Opinions panel last year, and I would love to join it this year if you need an extra panelist! I applied, and though I can't think of any suggestions, I hope things work out!

Hey guys, I helped with this one last year, and if you do need an extra, I'm down to help again. This panel always turns into a sh*tshow but in a good way, which is probably why it is always so popular.

Actually, I had a quick question: Is there a difference between this panel and an 18 plus version? Or is that an entierly different one altogether?

Actually, I had a quick question: Is there a difference between this panel and an 18 plus version? Or is that an entierly different one altogether? In short, no. In long, kinda? When I first attended this panel in 2017(?) I believe it was listed as an 18+ panel not necessarily because there was anything inherently adult about it, but I think just because the panelists at the time wanted to cover themselves in case there were any complaints about profanity or subject matter. When I listed it last year I chose not to list it as 18+ since it seemed like at AN that was reserved for panels that specifically covered adult topics. I figured by listing it as 18+, I would dissuade would-be attendees by implying that it would excessively crude. I don't think there has ever been an 18+ and non-18+ version of this panel, although I could see how someone would be able to perhaps run a second panel that does deal with specifically adult content. I'm pretty sure only one of those panels would ultimately get approved, though. I know a few long-time attendees of this panel were concerned that last years panel wouldn't be any fun because it wasn't listed as 18+. If that's a prevalent sentiment than I'm open to listing it as 18+ this year, but I don't really think it's necessary.

I can see why listing this panel as 18+ would make folks think it would be specifically for crudeness. I think its fine to keep the panel as all-ages, especially since it wasn't 18+ last year (not night). I suggest visually survey the audience and keeping in mind whether there are younger folks there, to steer away from explicit 18+ content.

I'm intrigued. How did the panel go down last year?
