Table N273 Edited to add: full table, but will likely be registering a support person Hi everyone! I am a seller with plus size cosplay and lots of "other" category stuff to sell looking to pair up with another cosplay or anime heavy seller. I am happy to discuss more details with you! I'm confused. Are you looking for a table mate or? Since she has a table number, I sure she's looking for a table mate. She is just mentioning that there is only room for 1 atm

Since she has a table number, I sure she's looking for a table mate. She is just mentioning that there is only room for 1 atm I see that upon re-reading it. Was confused by the edit, I am not a smart man D:

So I was lucky enough to get a table this year. I will say I have had a few people DM me asking to see if I could add another seller to my table, but I do not know if they were ones on the stand by list, or ones who were not picked at all that are trying to secure one.

The only people we do not allow to be added are those who have already canceled their table this year. It's a short list and we'll let you know if that happens.
Otherwise You can add anyone else you'd like!
If you add someone from the Stand-by list please let us know so we can update the list.

Why was the system changed from First Come First Serve to begin with? The reserves list would always fill out anyone who didn't show up, I thought. I've never seen a year of Nominoichi with many unused tables, if any! I relied heavily on my sales at this event to fund the rest of my weekend each year, but since this lottery system began, I've been unable to get picked, which leaves me with less in my pocket to give back to other vendors and events. It's quite frustrating, as I've always been a huge enthusiast of this event since its inception.
I'm sure there's a logistical reason for the change in how sellers are chosen, don't get me wrong. Just wish I didn't have to feel like a beggar trying to find someone who who can host my inventory.

We made the switch a number of years ago for a few reasons.
First and foremost, we wanted to insure that everyone had an equal chance to participate. First-come-first-served worked out well when it took a few days to sell out, but that system fell apart when we were 'sold out' after just a few minutes. We needed to take some of the stress out of the sign up process and also insure that everyone had enough time to have questions answered and problems resolved.
Additionally, it was an absolutely enormous amount of work to compile the list from emails. Those of us on staff at Anime North (like me) are just 'working' as volunteers. My family needs my attention full time, and I have a job I work at full time as well. Therefore, only the limited free time I have after that can I use to do convention business. Automating the sign-up process makes it take a few minutes longer than just one email for the people who want tables, but it saves me hours and hours of work compiling the list.
As we've said many times, sellers are all chosen at random. At the click of a button all the tables requests are sorted randomly and then the computer selects enough to fill all the tables, and enough to fill the stand-by list. What used to take nearly a week to finish is now done in a second.
This year the number of table applications was higher than ever before, and that's something we are looking at addressing next year, but it also means that nearly 1/2 of the people who applied did not get in. We will set up special threads for feedback and improvements and changes to next year's event here shortly. We always welcome ideas on how to make the event better.

We made the switch a number of years ago for a few reasons. [...] This is all fair enough... Disappointing to be at the mercy of RNG, but still... I get it, if manual approvals are significantly more work, it makes sense to automate.
