Hey! Oh my goodness, so excited for my favourite event of Anime North. I sell there every year.
What I would say about the signage is that when my fellow sellers and I got to our table, we made our own sign. I would just suggest that sellers make their own signs if they're going to hold reserve items for people and keep them visible. We had little drawings on our sign and made sure it was visible for people. The reserves are set up by the sellers and buyers separately. So, it should be the responsibility of the sellers to keep a sign visible.
The only issue I had with the Nom last year was finding the line for the sellers because I found that buyers were already lining up when I was trying to find the sellers line. It wasn't a huge issue though because I did eventually find it. But maybe having a volunteer directing the line more?
I don't know. I'm just excited for this event this year.

I agree with having those who have decided to do reserves on things should mark their tables so that those of us who are buying said reserved items don't have to keep going to the aid table.

In general: Usually located near the front entrance to the TCC, near the registration desk, is a CON-AID table. IF you need help finding information about when or where any event is, like the Nominoichi, I would advise finding and asking them. They should also be kept up-to-date with any schedules changes. (Supposed to be, but not always) Many staff members and volunteers you find running around won't know about events they are are not directly involved in. About the Nominoichi specifically: The best advice I can give you is to carefully read the instructions posted on the website, and to pay attention to the details in the "You have a table letter" I send out. If I were you I'd print them out and bring hard copies to the event. Those documents are the best and most accurate source of information about when and where to go. Sadly, none of the general staff and volunteers read them and if you ask a question about information found there most staff members either won't be able to answer you, or they'll make a guess that could be wrong. If you do have any questions the best person to ask is me, either here or in an email. And finally, just to be clear, I'm not trying insult or put-down anyone. Let us not forget that Anime north staff and volunteers are the very best people... ... who work for free.

I find this thread very useful, seeing as I plan on getting a couple of tables. I have a lot of good stuff in my collection that I want to be rid of to clear space for more good stuff! Plus it's how I'll be getting most of my spending money this year! Super hyped for this!

I wish the fashion swap and nomi tables werent so strict, yes i understand theyre quite different but not allowing nomi people sell fashion related items at all seems a bit too much, after all there are tons of people with interest with both japanese fashion and anime
my suggestion is making sellers pay an extra fee or something if they want to sell both fashion and anime related items ><
there were some nomi sellers who had a couple lolita dresses for sale, but then the rule that fashion related items cant be sold at the nomi and i had to meet up with them at tim hortons next door and stuff to buy them, i dont think its necessary because its a flea market! there shouldnt be these kind of restrictions on what you can sell (other than the anime/japanese items restriction of course) ><

The only issue I had last year were the lines. I ended up have to help organize the line, which i didn't mind as i am staff, but there needs to be a bit more structure among Nom staff in terms of what to do with the mass quantity of people. at one point, there were two lines, and it seemed to be working, until con goers started complaining that "their" line wasn't being let in. So! since the location is changing, it might do some good to plan out where a line for hordes of people will go, and have it clearly outlined with those line stand thingies used to keep people in line... ya

Try asking volunteers they should be able to give the information that you need since they are required to know about what going on where they are working where as staff might not know all the info you need because they might not be working there but somewhere else. hope this helps Ah, sorry, my "staff" was meant to include both people that worked for AN and volunteers helping out the event. In general: Usually located near the front entrance to the TCC, near the registration desk, is a CON-AID table. Let us not forget that Anime north staff and volunteers are the very best people... ... who work for free. That was definitely the first place I went to, and those people didn't know either at the time when I asked them where to find the Nominoichi, so they just told me to wait until they got information (they actually never got back to me before I found the Nominoichi myself with other people). But they were super nice about it. In fact, all the staff and volunteers were. These people are definitely amazing for doing what they are doing for such a huge event yet still maintaining their composure. It's just unfortunate that they missed the info about this particular event.

The Nominoichi will remain for the selling of Nominoichi only items. Items that can be sold at other Anime North events like the Comics Market, Crafter's Corner, Doll North Marketplace, or Fashion Swap will not be allowed at the Nominoichi. We understand that as a seller you may have a number of items that may fit into one or more events, however you may not sell those items at the Nominoichi.
This rule is in place to help create a distinction for each event and to help the buyers to know what to expect at each event. People looking to buy fashion clothing will check out the fashion swap and people looking to buy drawings will visit the Comics market. Likewise, people looking to buy some used DVDs, anime goods, or manga will only be looking at the Nominoichi.
Furthermore, we have no plans to create a tiered table system where some sellers are allowed to sell items that other sellers cannot; as this would be very problematic to control and enforce. All Nominoichi tables, both full and half, will be covered by one set of rules as to what can be sold.

Glad to see this already being discussed! We hope to get a table again at Nominoichi; last year, being our first Nomi, was really fun. c: The Table # sign we made last year was taped to the front but in hindsight that probably wasn't the best of places since lines covered it up. Maybe people would fold pieces of paper to make stands and tape them to a corner near the front of their table? It might take up some space but it would probably be easier to spot from afar than taped to the front, maybe?
I don't know if it would be possible or not, but to help a little bit with confusion (and maybe to save on lineups potentially being big for people asking where tables are) could we have signs near the aisles that say like 'Tables 1 - 20' or something? Probably finding tables was the most tedious bit of last year. It's fine if not! Just thought I'd throw in my two cents. .//.
Also, would it be possible to split the Nomi sub-forum further: as in one section for topics that people make to say they want to buy stuff, and the other of topics for people selling things?

Also, would it be possible to split the Nomi sub-forum further: as in one section for topics that people make to say they want to buy stuff, and the other of topics for people selling things? I second this the Nomi subforum had several wishlist and want to buy threads. Splitting the two would increase visibility for both buyers and sellers. Just thought I'd throw in my two cents. .//. I kinda doubt this would be feasible since Nominoichi is moving to yet another location this year which means that the layout will likely be rearranged to accommodate for the new room's dimensions. Would be nice though and would decrease crowding since people who are just there to pick up reserved items could be in and out in less time, giving more space to those who prefer to browse.

So I've been hearing around that people spotted a few people selling in Nomi this year who were:
1) selling bootlegs and 2) were selling brand-new products (and more than one copy of each), which likely means that they were dealers (instead of fans selling their used goods)
I thought I'd just bring it to the attention of you guys, since I know this is the one place that staff and volunteers are definitely reading.
I know the official rule is that we are supposed to report these kinds of nomi sellers, but it seems not many people do. I never saw them, but I didn't spend long in Nominoichi last year.

an idea about signage:
idk how effective this could be implemented, but i'm thinking of road/aisle signs? like... if you're in the toronto/gta area and have been to dr. flea's flea market, they have "street signs" with booth names and numbers on them, and at major "intersections", aka where the main aisle cross/section off each group into blocks, there are signs saying #'s 1000-1050, 1051-1100, etc etc...
could something like that be of use? like, once you know your table set up, have them numbered, then have posts at each aisle or something stating that these are numbers x - y?
i thought about something like that for the dealer's room, but it's hella congested, and this idea would be best suited to smaller things like the nomi and comic market, etc

Please extend the time length of Nominoichi. If I'm going to be there on Friday lugging around all the merchandise, most likely won't be doing anything else. If possible I'd like for Nominoichi to last as long as possible thanks.
